When we have large plants it is not always easy to find the pots that we like and that are great for the meter inside our pots.
I, for example, have a trunk in Brazil that almost reaches the ceiling. This year he has grown a lot but he has done it by leaning to one side. So to prevent it from falling.
As the pot was very ugly, I started looking for a bigger one to cover it.
I wanted a gray one, and when I started to look I loved those that imitated the cement. The problem is that they were all too small and my pot now could not fit inside. I only found one big enough, but it was worth about 45 € and I found it very expensive. So I decided to make my own low-cost version.
This afternoon I took a bucket I had at home and, after checking that my pot was inside, I took the handle and I have arranged to tune it.
I had half a pack of grout that I had left to cover the joints of the bathroom tiles. And as the grout grabs very well on any surface and can also be easily colored with dye (which I also had left over from the bath work this summer), I found the easiest to use.
Making the grout is very easy: we only have to mix it with water following the instructions that come in the package
To color it we add a few drops of special dye for painting, taking into account that it is necessary to leave it quite darker than the color that we want to get, since when drying it becomes very clear.
Once the mixture has been made, it is necessary to rest for a few minutes (following the instructions in the box), and then we can apply it.
To give it between the joints of the tiles is normal to do it with a spatula, but in this case I applied with a brush because I was much more comfortable.
After spreading the whole cube, I waited until the excess mass began to harden to be able to make the flange.
Once completely dry, this is the result:
The truth is that the same as the one I had liked in the store is not … but to have cost me zero euros using leftovers that I had at home, it has not been bad either 😉
